We provide safe and individualized care throughout pregnancy. We understand the unique considerations of this period and do everything possible to make any treatment as safe and comfortable as possible for you and your child.

With the right approach, dental treatment during pregnancy is safe and is often even recommended. Untreated dental problems can lead to inflammation, pain, or infection, which may negatively affect the health of both the mother and the developing baby.

The Best Time to Visit the Dentist

Second trimester (14–27 weeks) is considered the safest and most comfortable period for treatment.

  • In the first trimester, we avoid non-urgent procedures due to early fetal development.
  • In the third trimester, prolonged procedures may cause discomfort, so we carefully adjust treatment and patient positioning.

If needed, we consult with your obstetrician/gynecologist to ensure maximum safety.

Procedures and Their Safety During Pregnancy

Professional cleaning and examination

Regular preventive visits are completely safe and recommended throughout pregnancy to reduce the risk of pregnancy-related gingivitis and tooth decay.

Tooth fillings and restorations

Necessary treatments (e.g., for cavities or chipped teeth) are performed using materials and anesthetics approved for pregnancy.

Tooth extraction

Performed only when necessary (pain, infection, inflammation) using safe local anesthesia in controlled doses.

  • We use local anesthesia in a controlled dosage that is safe for pregnancy.
  • Dental X-rays are performed only when necessary, and always with a protective shield for the baby.
  • If antibiotics are required, we prescribe only those that are approved and safe for use during pregnancy.

Emergency care

If you experience pain, swelling, inflammation, or dental trauma — contact us immediately. Untreated complications can negatively affect pregnancy, while timely care ensures safety.

Root canal treatment

When the tooth nerve is infected or inflamed, endodontic treatment can be performed, with precautions and coordination with your gynecologist if needed.

Local anesthesia

Local anesthetics such as lidocaine can be used during pregnancy in clinically safe dosages. General anesthesia and sedation are used only when strictly necessary and under direct medical supervision.
